Jean P. Infanti
The son of two military parents, Jean was born in Rhode Island and spent part his childhood in Baltimore before coming to live in Berks County in the Allentown area when he was young. Jean has come to consider Pennsylvania his home state and enjoys giving back to the community that he grew up in. Jean’s primary motivator is his curiously and desire to understand how everything we have to interact with functions. Jean attended school in Montgomery County before attending Ursinus College, where he majored in history and studied sociology and international relations.
Having personally dealt with the divorce of his parents and their subsequent child custody issues for most of his childhood, Jean has developed a great appreciation for how the court system can affect families. Particularly, Jean learned just how traumatic and emotional the family law process can be, particularly for those who do not understand it but who are often left to fend for themselves within it. Additionally, Jean saw the role that a lawyer can have in advocating for their clients and in the best interests of their client’s children, which ultimately motivated him to attend law school.
Jean studied and graduated law at Drexel University in Philadelphia. While at Drexel, Jean interned with the Honorable Doris A. Pechkurow in the Philadelphia Family Courthouse. He also volunteered with the courthouse’s Protection From Abuse Unit, interviewing clients who were filing for protection from abuse orders and drafting their petitions to the court. This time provided him with valuable experience on how the family court system functions in the busiest courthouse in the Commonwealth and how to help people who are dealing with emotionally complex issues understand the legal system they must use to protect themselves. In his last year, Jean participated in a cooperative as a certified legal intern with Philadelphia Legal Services in their family law unit, where he represented clients in family law matters under the supervision of an attorney.
After graduating law school Jean returned to Berks County where he worked for MidPenn Legal Services, primarily helping indigent people with landlord-tenant issues, but also handling SSI/SSDI, debtor defense and family law matters. Jean has developed a passion for how technology and the law interact and how technology can be used to provide better legal services to clients. As a result, following his time at MidPenn, Jean worked for a start-up technology company based out of the Washington DC area as a systems and data analyst, attempting to address national security related security issues for Fortune 500 companies and the Federal government. Jean then worked at a law firm in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania where he dealt with corporate and transactional matters for non-profits, companies and individuals in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Jean joined the Ciccarelli Law Offices because of a devotion to making a difference for people, acting on behalf of clients like his family that were addressing issues that were personal and life changing for them. Jean will primarily handle family law and criminal law matters and is excited to continue his legal career in Chester County and southeastern Pennsylvania area. Jean believes that his background in dealing with criminal and family law issues in his own life will provide him with the perspective to help clients understand the system they are facing and how they can best protect and assert themselves within it.
